Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Team Ownership?
I know who owns every other NPB team, except Chunichi and Hiroshima. So who does own the Dragons and Carp?

I believe Hiroshima is owned by Toyo Car, Inc., and Chunichi by the Chunichi media conglomerate (not sure of the official name).

I thought the Carp were owned by the city of Hiroshima, along with Toyo. Is that still true today?

Also, who owns the BayStars?

The Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) own the BayStars.

The official name of the company which owns the Carp is Mazda. Used to be Toyo Kogyo. Both were/are the maker of Mazda cars. To my knowledge, the city of Hiroshima has never owned the Carp.

The Hiroshima Toyo Carp are owned primarily by the autombile maker, Mazda. Until a little while back, Toyo Kogyo. The owner is a Mr. Matsuda ["Matsuda" -> "Mazda"], whose father evidently started the team. Not sure about that.

Anyway, the recognized owner is now Mazda Company, which makes your Mazda autos.

The Stadium - Hiroshima Shimin Kyujo (literally 'City People's Baseball Ground') - is owned by the city.

They still go by the name Hiroshima Toyo Carp though. It would be interesting to know why.
