Any News About Tamura?
I am trying to find some info about Tamura from Yokohama, but to read Japanese is pretty hard. What's his status right now? What kind of injury are we talking about?

I think a little background news is in order first.

On Wednesday morning (June 29) at about 9:30, while travelling the Yokohama-Yokosuka Expressway, Tamura spun out in his Porche going around a curve in pouring rain near the Kamariya Junction (the exit I would take to get home). While there was no evidence that he was exceeding the speed limit, police at the scene commented, "it is a sports car." Nonetheless, no other vehicles or people were involved in the accident, which is very fortunate considering how crowded the expressways are at that time. Tamura was taken directly to a Yokohama hospital from the scene.

The air bags caused injury to his left shoulder and left retina. Reports in Nikkan Sports say that he has double vision in his left eye, which strikes me as possibly the more serious injury. Yokohama is sending him down to ni-gun for two weeks of rehabilitation.

Tamura is scheduled to rejoin the team for the July 29th game against Hiroshima, according to this report from Sponichi Annex (in Japanese). On the 28th he took batting practice and hit 8 home runs out of 49 swings.
