What's the Record for Losses in a Month?
Right now Rakuten is 2 and 20 for August and close to being 2-21. What is the record for ineptitude in a month?

As I suspected, Nikkan Sports provided the answer this morning (August 31, 2005).

In August of 1961 Kintetsu went 8 and 22, so Rakuten was going for the tie of the record this evening with their 2 and 21 for August (5 losses, a win, 11 losses, a win, 5 losses). However, you'll be glad to know that they just defeated Nippon Ham minutes earlier to writing this, so they finish August 3 and 21.

The only other team to finish a month with 21 losses was when the Taiei Stars who went 3 and 21 in April of 1955, making Rakuten the third team to lose as many as 21 in a month.
