With all of Kazuo Matsui's Major League struggles aside, he still is the best shortstop in the NPB. He batted .309 with 150 HRs and 569 RBIs. He had 1,433 hits, 271 doubles, 51 triples, and 306 stolen bases. Kaz Matsui was selected to 7 Best Nines as a player, was named the 1998 PL MVP, and was a 4 time Gold Glove winner. He was also voted the best shortstop of the 20th century by fans. [Batting Stats - Japan Baseball Daily] [Career Stats]

Please see my rankings at this page [Baseball Guru].

I'd go with Toyoda, though Kaz is still moving up.

My choice is Yasumitsu Toyoda, though Kaz is moving up. For my list of shortstops, see this page [Baseball Guru].
