The NPB has two leagues, the Central and Pacific Leagues. The Central League had a 146 game season and the Pacific League has a 136 game season last year.

The NPB has only two minor leagues, the Western and Eastern Leagues. All of the teams are named after their parent clubs, with the exceptions of the Kobe Surpass (Orix's ni-gun team) and the Invoice Lions (Seibu's ni-gun team, and Shonan SeaRex (Yokohama's ni-gun team).
