Steroid Testing?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Steroid Testing?
Hi all,

I'm new to the forum here. I fall under the "I'm writing a report..." section. I've read a thread from last year about steroids. I was trying to figure out if NPB did in fact begin steroid testing in 2005. I haven't found anything definitive, although the data seem to suggest they might've. I'm hoping they did not (at least for my study, it would be benficial). Any links or info would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

Bring it on! Watch the Hawks' power numbers drop (esp. the foreign contingent) and the juiced up Cabrera. Let's just hope the testing is comprehensive and tests everyone.

I think we'll see the same level of power from the two Hawks stars. Matsunaka is one of the best hitters Japan has seen in a while (excluding post-season), and Zuleta uses that huge swing that wouldn't be able to catch up to MLB fastballs. Matsunaka seems like a naturally thick guy and Zuleta is a towering slugger.

As far as Cabrera is concerned, I think he's pretty suspect, but one of his keys to success in Japan is his huge swing. He's just like Zuleta in the fact that his swing is probably too big for major league heaters.

I don't think any testing will change the stats too much. If anything needs to change, it's the size of Hiroshima's stadium. Matsunaka would hit 60 out if he played for the Carp.

I don't know of any website which covers it - sorry.
