Common Feelings Towards Stars Leaving

Common Feelings Towards Stars Leaving
Hello, and thanks for hosting this part of the forum.

I have a question about the overall attitude Japanese baseball fans have towards their stars leaving. When a big name like Ichiro or Hideki Matsui leaves Japanese baseball, are the fans mostly happy for them and glad to see them try to take on a bigger challenge, or is there a feeling of resentment or betrayal towards these players for leaving Japanese baseball?

Thanks!

Judging by the press, it's overwhelmingly supportive. Even when Nomo went over, it was the owners who were the only ones going into panic mode, feeling deceived.

While many fan organizations may hold up banners asking the players to say, once the player declares that he's following his dream to play in the Majors, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone not 100% behind the player realizing that dream.
