Baseball Brawls
Hello,

I am doing a database on baseball brawls and I would like to know if anyone here would have information about brawls that happened in the Japanese leagues. The only ones I have been aware of are the ones involving Tuffy Rhodes and another one involving Trey Moore. I don't have much on either.

Thanks for your help.

Many brawls have occurred over the years. One of the most famous involved pitcher Clyde Wright. John Sipin also had a memorable fight.

One sight you don't see in the USA but has happened in Japan are umpires being physically assaulted by players, coaches, and managers.

Another one of the most famous brawls was the one with Balvino Galvez and Takeshi Yamasaki [YouTube].

In "You Gotta Have Wa," Whiting mentions a confrontation between Dick Davis and Osamu Higashio.

There was a big one earlier this year (April 16th) when Satoru Kanemura hit Julio Zuleta with a pitch, and Zuleta charged the mound and literally beat up Kanemura. It was pretty insane.

There was a year in the mid 1990s (I can't remember which season) with major tension and several brawls between the Giants and the Swallows. This ended with a special rule in Central League that if a pitcher hit a batter in the head, the pitcher got automatically thrown out of the game (I believe).
