What's a "Man"?
When looking at players it has their salary. It also talks about 1-man=10,000. First of all, what currency is man? I thought Japan used Yen. Secondly, 1-man=10,000 what? Thanks for the help.

It's a number:

1 - ichi
10 - jyuu
100 - hyaku
1,000 - sen
10,000 - man
100,000 - jyuu-man 十万
1,000,000 - hyaku-man 百万
10,000,000 - sen-man 千万
100,000,000 - oku 億 (10,000-man)

In English we have a different word to denote every third digit (thousands, millions, billions, etc.).

In Japanese we have a different word to denote every fourth digit (man, oku, chou (兆), etc.).

The common numerical unit for salaries is 1-man yen for most players, 1-oku yen for the elite.

Seibu Lions' Alex Cabrera had the top salary for 2006 at 6-oku (60,000-man or 600,000,000) yen. Three "educational" players shared the lowest salary of 240-man yen. (No, 240-man is not enough to live off of unless the ball club is handling food and board.)

Essentially, add 4 zeros to the number, and the salaries are in yen.

It's handy how 1-oku yen is about 1 million dollars. Makes for easy conversions in your head.
