Park Factors?

Park Factors?
Does anyone have any idea where I could find park factors for Japanese parks from 1992 through 2006? Thanks very much for your help.

I know where to find them for 1994-1996, the years that Jim Allen (now working for The Daily Yomiuri) took the time to compile them for his "Guide to Japanese Baseball" books. I've put up Chiba Marine Stadium before.

Allen-san has given me permission to reproduce anything in his old Guides, so I'll enter all of the teams' stadiums here later today. However, there are a few things you should be aware of:
  1. Sapporo Dome and Osaka Dome weren't built yet.
  2. Seibu (Invoice) Dome didn't yet have it's cover (dimensions changed).
  3. Neutral sites have not been compiled.
So, with that in mind, I'll post the little data there is in a bit.

Here they are, all in one easy to find place (rather than shifting through three books).

Park factor sources:
  • "Allen's Guide to Japanese Baseball 1995"
  • "Jim Allen's 1996 Guide to Japanese Baseball"
  • "Jim Allen's 1997 Guide to Japanese Baseball"
Add Nagoya Dome to the list of stadiums not yet built.

Also, please note the differences at Tokyo Dome between the Giants and Fighters, both franchises calling the Big Egg home. Notably, triples, home runs, and strike outs are moving in different directions. The following excerpt is from the 1997 Guide (page 65):
Notes: Since it is rare for one park to be shared by two teams, the Tokyo Dome is an extremely useful and interesting park to measure, especially because both teams are from different leagues.

In the Central League it's a neutral park, but in the Pacific League it's a hitters' park. By comparing the frequency of different events that occur to all batters from both leagues, the PL games at Tokyo Dome show a slight increase in singles, doubles, triples, and walks. This difference may be caused by the DH. If I may, the numbers are ... "in the same ball park."

The real difference between the two leagues occurs when you compare all the other stadiums. Pacific League parks tend to favor pitchers more than the other Central League parks do. Tokyo Dome's park effects are almost exactly the same. However, because of the overall effect, which occurs when comparing all teams in each league, Tokyo Dome boosts offensive statistics in the Pacific League games, but has little effect on the level of offense generated in Central League games. [Some editing done.]

While all of this data is quite old, I hope you can find some use for it.

Looking forward, I've got all the necessary data from 2006 to start generating park effects. I hope to be able to publish 2006 and 2007 park effects at the end of this season.

Wow, that's fantastic, thank you for digging those up. Do you know where I might find the home team and road team stats for each stadium for '97 thru '02?
