Hawks: The New Giants (again)?

Hawks: The New Giants (again)?
Well, like they did in the mid 1990s, the Daiei Hawks are starting to shell out the cash to their players. Here are some of next years' salaries:
Saitoh (pitcher - Sawamura award winner) = 1.5-oku
    Matsunaka (1st baseman - PL RBI leader) = 3-oku
    Johjima (catcher - 36 HR in 2003) = 4-oku
    Iguchi (2nd base - .340 27 HR) = 2.4-oku
    Shibahara (outfielder - .330 avg) = 1.6-oku
(For those who don't know yen 1-oku (100,000,000) yen is about the equivalent of $1 million.)

Does this mean the Hawks are regaining their almost "rich status" akin to the 1995ish team that spent a lot of money on players trying to rival the Giants' salaries? I guess the main difference between them and the Giants is that these salary increases are all home-grown players.

Matsunaka (1st baseman - PL RBI leader) = 3-oku

Didn't Matsunaka turn that offer down [JapanTimes]?
