Giants Spring Training in Guam

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Giants Spring Training in Guam
I will be on Guam through the middle of February and I heard that the Giants use Guam as their spring training site. Any info on when they will be there and whether practice/exhibitions will be open to the public?

Thanks.

I found this link [Kuam.com] on Gary Garland's page on baseballguru.com. The article indicates that the Guam Visitors Bureau will provide information on the Yomuiri Giants' public pratices.

I just got back from my trip to Guam and the Giants were there from Feb 1-7 for a pre-training camp. I was able to watch a workout for about an hour on the first day, and they mostly concentrated on the basics, conditioning, fielding, throwing, and hitting. I also stopped by on the last day, but it got rained out.

If you are a hard core Giants fan, this is a good place to watch them in action real close up. They were all there, Kuwata, Takahashi, Kokubo, Abe, just to name a few. The ballpark is small and there are batting cages nearby to watch them hit. Even after the workout, players had to walk back to the hotel, so it was a good opportunity to get photos and autographs. Daily workouts were held at the Leo Palace Resort and lasted from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm.
