Central League Playoffs?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Central League Playoffs?
I know that the first three teams will make the Central League playoffs. The second place team will play the third place team, and the winner will play the first place team. But my question is, how many games will be played? Best of 3, 5, or 7?

It's funny that none of my Japanese friends can answer this questions.

I'd guess that none of your Japanese friends have been watching the exciting Pacific League playoffs for the past three years. That's what it's based off of.

Nonetheless, the first round (Stage One) is a best of 3. The second round (Stage Two) is a best of 5, with the first place team getting an automatic win going into the series.

Finally, when the Central and Pacific League representatives are decided, the Nippon Series is a best of 7 series.

Are you sure that's the situation? I thought they dropped the automatic win for this year. I could be wrong, but I thought the only advantage for higher placed teams was the home field advantage.
