Foreign Players and the Asia Series
I didn't see Woods in the line-up tonight against South Korea. Did he choose to skip it or are foreign players not allowed to play for Japan in this Series?

Woods chose to skip the series. Foreign players are allowed to play as Chunichi's Byung Kyu Lee is playing.

OK, glad to hear that. I know foreigners in Japan can't/don't play for Japan in the Nichi-Bei Series, so was just checking on that. Thanks for the info.

That is not entirely correct. Alex Cabrera played for the 2002 Japan team in the Nichi-Bei Series [2002 Japan Roster - MLB.com].

OK, I wasn't aware of Cabrera. I remember before him maybe Julio Franco (or another Franco?) wanting to play for Japan when he was with Lotte and they turned down his request. But I guess things have changed.

Seibu's Chang also played in the 2002 MLB-NPB series.
It sure is a shame that his arm fell apart.
