Yutaka Wada Hitting Streak?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Yutaka Wada Hitting Streak?
Japanbase Ball Daily lists Yutaka Wada as having a record for longest hitting streak to open a season, but gives two different lengths (21 games, 24 games). Which is correct? Also, what year was this in?

I need the information for the Wada bio I'm doing at Baseball-Reference.

I would e-mail Gary Garland directly, but I don't think he's gotten my e-mails for some time; he used to reply quickly and I haven't heard from him for ages.

I'm out for the day. But when I return home I'll look it up first thing.

According to Wada's Wikipedia page, he safely in 24 consecutive games to start the 1997 season.

I was unable to find such a record in the "2008 Baseball Record Book" (Baseball Magazine Sha, ISBN 978-4-583-10066-1 for those who await its publishing every year) for corroboration. But I did verify it on Wada's profile on Hanshin's official site.

Hope this helps.
