Former Japanese MLBers

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Former Japanese MLBers
Hi,

I am trying to track down which Japanese players had played in the MLB in the last few years and are still playing in Japan. I know Shinjo retired, but is anyone else still active?

I looked at the roster page, and found the following, if there are more players I missed, please let me know.
  • Norihiro Nakamura - Dragons
  • Masao Kida - Swallows
  • Satoru Komiyama - Marines
  • Kazuhisa Ishii - Lions
  • Kazuhito Tadano - Fighters

The only other one you missed is Micheal Nakamura of the Nippon Ham Fighters.

Nakamura played with the Twins and Blue Jays from 2003 to 2004. He was drafted by the Fighters in 2005. Also, Masato Yoshii is retired, but he's a coach with the Fighters also.

I am shocked to see Komiyama still active. He's 42 and becoming the Jesse Orosco of Japan.

Although he isn't active as a player, I believe Yoshii is now a pitching coach with the Fighters.
