There be very little opportunity for a player to play in NPB without somekind of professional experience, either in MLB or in the American Minors (preferably AA or higher). It essentially is your 4-A players or occassionally a big name here and there.

What I say to many of the people looking to play in Japan is to check Gary Garland's So You Want To Play in Japan article over at Japan Baseball Daily. It includes a great deal of good information about Japanese baseball, the culture in Japan, how to be successful in Japan, and what information you need to play in Japan.

I wish you good luck in your endeavors, but I find the cards stacked against you in your efforts to get involved with professional baseball in Japan first this way.

NPB has been getting many more imports from Asia and Latin America than the States lately. Many imports, including Americans, are coming through other Asian leagues, in fact.
