Capellan (KYAPIAN Jose) and Orix?
Did Jose Capellan or Liriano make the Orix Buffaloes team?

I've been looking daily for a follow up on the Capellan / Riliano (sp?) tryout, but haven't seen anything other than speculation that one, the other, or both (not clear) might be signed to the developmental roster.

When something is known, I'll follow up to this thread. (No need to create a new one.)

Where have you read this? Can you suggest something where we can follow up and it be translated into English?

Thanks.

I subscribe to Nikkan Sports (paper version). However, looking on their site, I found this from yesterday (which a recheck of yesterday's paper still came up empty - it must not have made the Kanto edition).

Anyway, the above article reads:
On the 21st, Orix held an inserquad game (at Kobe sub-ground) where the two right handers, Jose Capellan (27=previously with Rockies) and Pedro Riliano (sp?) (27=previously with Angels), held their tryouts. No decision has yet been made regarding Capellan's performce of reaching a maximum of 143 kph over 3 innings of 1 hit, no run pitching. Under the supervision of Collins-kantoku, inspecting Nakamura-club head said, "I get the magical feeling of power. We should decide in 2 or 3 days." However, it was decided not to adopt Riliano (sp?) who maxed out at 146 kph over 3 innings while allowing 8 runs on 8 hits.
Please use this Goo search for finding more articles on Capellan in Japanese over the next few days. If you find something, please feel free to bring it to our attention. I have a feeling that the Kanto version of Nikkan Sports won't carry anything until the final decision has been made (and only then if there is a signing).

I cannot read Japanese, but if any English or Spanish papers put something, I will post as well.

Geez, Nakamura said (on May 21) they would make a decision in 2 or 3 days. Here it is a week later and no decision. Is he screwing up the Capellan contract like the Powell contract?

I've refreshed the above Goo search, and searched Google. Nothing new about Capellan.

The sudden departure of Collins-kantoku probably has the front office a bit distracted right now. But I can't comment on something that isn't being released to the press.

Sorry.

According to this SpoNichi article (in Japanese), neither of the Dominicans trying out made the team. The article translates roughly as:
On [May] 28 Orix announced that it would pass on signing the two pitchers from the Dominican Republic, Jose Capellan and Pedro Liliano (sp?), who were undergoing a tryout for the team. Club head Nakamura explained that they had insufficient ability, but that they still somehow wanted to acquire one more pitcher. He said that they have a number of names on a list.
Sorry it didn't work out.

This isn't anything additional or helpful but;

I just found this site while searching for Bobby Valentine news. And I absolutely love the quotes that management is giving. Related to this story alone, "I had the magical feeling of power" and Cappellan and Rillano had "insufficient ability."

Why can't they make comments like that in North America? This is great!
