Ojiyama Stadium?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Ojiyama Stadium?
Has anyone been to Ojiyama Stadium? I was surprised to see that the Fighters and Eagles are playing 3 games there in August and 3 more in September. From what I've researched, it's located in Otsu, Shiga - nowhere near Tohoku or Hokkaido of course. I know it's normal to play in smaller cities like this, but 6 full games is a lot.

Are these considered home games for the Eagles?

I stayed in a hotel across the park from Ojiyama Stadium. It is very small - 5,000 seats. My mother's family lives in Otsu. My uncle was an umpire who worked amateur baseball games.

The first week of August there will be the annual Otsu Dai Hanabi Taikai (Grand Fireworks Festival). I remember this colorful and joyful event from my childhood.

Uhhhh, where exactly did you see that? I see no such thing on either of their schedules. Nor on the farm team schedules.

Looking at the schedule posted on this website it shows that the Fighters-Eagles are playing at Ojiyama. Though I only see them playing from September 16-18.

Looking at the Eagles' schedule, this is clearly a data entry error on my part. I'm investigating it right now.

I found the problem. I had incorrectly entered Ojiyama Stadium (stadium ID of 105) instead of K-Stadium (stadium ID of 107) for 59 of Rakuten's home games. It was a data entry miss on my part which has now been corrected. (Well, at least I was pretty consistent.)

For the record, there was only 1 game held at Ojiyama this year, a pre-season game between the Lions and Tigers on March 8.

Sorry about the confusion.

Thanks for clearing that up. Too bad it was an error. I love these local ballparks and was starting to make plans to catch a game! Oh well!

When it comes to those local ballparks, I think there is some unwritten rule somewhere that the stadium has to seat at least 15,000 people for regular season games. This is just purely speculation on my part, but having been to many of those stadiums, I notice that they can seat a lot of people.

Again, just adding my 2 cents here.
