What are the names of the bases in Japanese and do they mean the same in English as in the U.S.?

- First base: 一塁 (ichi rui) ichi means "one" and rui mean "base."
- Second base: 二塁 (ni rui) ni mean "two."
- Third base: 三塁 (san rui) san means "three."
- Home plate: 本塁 (hon rui) hon has many meanings depending on context. In this case, it is kind of like the source or root of the bases, i.e. home base.

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world.
