Climax Series Tiebreaker?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Climax Series Tiebreaker?
If somehow Chunichi and Hiroshima both finish in 3rd place with the same winning percentage, but Chunichi has 2 more ties than the Carp, who get's into the Climax Series? Will there be a playoff to get into the playoffs?

The only way for such a scenario to come out would be if both teams finish with a .500 winning percentage. To do that, the teams would end the season at:
                W L T
Hiroshima 70 70 4
Chunichi 69 69 6
As a secondary deciding factor, wins are used. So Hiroshima will finish the season in third place.

As an aside, the league used wins as the deciding factor one year instead of winning percentage. The bizarre standings of having the second place team actually hold the Magic Number (due to having more rain outs) caused more than a little confusion. Needless to say, that idea didn't last a second season.

Further in the past, tied games were made up. But that was considered to be unfair in the various title races as some teams played more games than others.

Back even farther, when games were called after 15 innings (instead of the current 12), there were very rarely any tied ball games at all.
