Japanese Players in Millington, TN in 1995?

Japanese Players in Millington, TN in 1995?
Hello!

I have a bit of a mystery on my hands, and thought this might be the place for someone to help provide me with some answers.

I recently acquired a baseball with a "USA Stadium - National Training Center - Millington, Tennessee" logo. The ball has a handwritten date of 6-23-95 on it, and it is signed by quite a few Japanese players. Through the very kind assistance of a Japanese co-worker (and avid baseball fan) I was able to find out that among the signatures was current MLB pitcher Masahide Kobayashi, Tokyo Giants players Shimizu Takayuki and Ken Kadokura (as well as ex Giant Koichi Misawa), Fukuoka Hawks pitcher Shinji Kurno, Hanshin Tigers infielder Makoto Imaoka, former Seibu Lions player Taiei Takagi, and ex-Yakuruto Swallows catcher Ko-sei Ono.

Please accept my apologies if I have some of the names misspelled, or if any of the players information is incorrect.

Can anyone tell me what this group of players was doing in Millington, Tennessee in 1995?

Any information would be most welcome and very much appreciated!

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Mike

If I remember correctly, there were a series of games between Team USA and Japan - amateur college all-stars I think. I will try to find my old Baseball Americas.

USA Stadium in Millington was the home of the US Olympic baseball team from 1986-1996. The Japanese national team played 19 games there over the years.

I see. So this is likely a ball signed by the 1995 Japan national team during a game in Millington. THANKS!! (I'll now start to do some digging to find the '95 roster - and maybe even line scores.)
