Is Alex Ramirez a meikyukai player now?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Is Alex Ramirez a meikyukai player now?
Now that Alex Ramirez has reached more then 2000 hits combined in NPB and MLB, will he become a Meikyukai (club of players with at least 2,000 hits, 200 wins or 250 saves) member?

Ichiro, H.Matsui, and K.Matsui are also Meikyukai members because of the combined 2,000 hits in NPB and MLB.

Martin-san, it's been a while, hasn't it?

The short answer is, no, Ramirez is not yet a member of the Meikyukai. Despite having played most of his career in Japan, he didn't start his career in Japan. That seems to be the new criteria for Nichi-Bei combined statistics.

On the positive side, he may still clear 2,000 in Japan only this season.

More details can be found here.
