SINCE WINNING THEIR first Japan Series title in 44 years last season, Trey Hillman's Hammies have lost their star (Pacific League MVP Michihiro Ogasawara, who moved to the Yomiuri Giants as a free agent) and their star power (the flamboyant Tsuyoshi Shinjo, who retired to become a multimedia icon-pitchman).
