Matsuzaka Spins Gem, but Suffers No-Decision
Former Seibu Lions superstar Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched great today at Safeco Field in Seattle. Matsuzaka went 8 innings, gave up only one run on 3 hits, walked none, and struck out eight. Despite the great performance, Matsuzaka did not factor in the decision, as the Red Sox lost 2-1 in 11 innings.

Other Japanese players in the game were Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Okajima. Ichiro was 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI, and 2 strikeouts. Okajima went 1/3 of an inning, giving up 2 hits. Seattle catcher and former Daiei/SoftBank Hawk Kenji Johjima was given the day off.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
