ソフトバンクが開幕１軍入りを目指す若手の活躍で逆転勝ちした。２点をリードして迎えた２回に先発和田が３点を失って一時は逆転を許した。しかし、６回に広島２番手高橋から城所らの適時打で再びリードを奪うと、８回は仲沢が適時打、９回には城所が“プロ初アーチ”となる２ランなどで３点を加えて逃げ切った。当初、１０日までの福岡ヤフードームでのオープン戦までが若手の「テスト期間」としていた王監督も試合後、「時期的には、いつでもアピールしてくれればいい」と目を細めた。先発和田は５回５安打３失点だったが、その後馬原、甲藤、ニコースキー、山村は無失点リレーでつないだ。
