巨人が「伝説の走塁」を再現した。楽天とのオープン戦で５回２死一、二塁から谷が中前打を放つと、相手野手の一瞬のスキを見逃さず、伊原春樹野手総合コーチ（５８）が指示して一塁走者鈴木尚までが一気に生還した。１９８７年の日本シリーズで西武が巨人相手に見せた究極の走塁を、巨人が決めて勝った。改革の浸透を予感させて、原巨人がいよいよ実戦モードに入ってきた。
