日本ハムのヒルマン監督が、またもや白星を逃した。４回にセギノールの本塁打で先制したが、その裏すぐに同点に。６回には１死二、三塁から敬遠で満塁策を取ったが、アレンの二塁打などで３点を失った。ロッテ・バレンタイン監督との開幕２連戦に続く外国人監督対決となった、コリンズ監督との第１ラウンドで敗退。しかしながら試合後は「まだ１４１試合残っている。パニックになる必要はない」と前向きだった。
