ソフトバンクが中継ぎ陣の崩壊で今季初の３連敗を喫した。江川が３回プロ初アーチに続き、４回にも２死満塁から走者一掃の３点適時三塁打を放つなど序盤はリードを奪った。しかし、１点リードで迎えた７回に２番手山村が同点を許すと、８回は４番手藤岡が勝ち越し３ランを浴びてしまい、万事休す。王監督も「我慢だな、我慢。そのうちいい時も来る」と唇をかみ締めていた。これで貯金もわずか１となり、３位に転落した。
