日本ハム・ヒルマン監督が来日５年目で通算３００勝を会心のさい配で飾った。７回無死一、二塁のピンチを招くと、１安打と好投のグリンからセットアッパー武田久にスイッチ。無失点で切り抜け、最後は守護神マイケルを投入して逃げ切った。昨季に続く球団タイの１１連勝、交流戦タイ記録の９連勝で最高のメモリアル白星をつかんだ。「個人記録について特に関心がない。選手の活躍なしではなし得ないので、私がその一部でいられることがうれしい」と、いつも通り淡々としていた。
