巨人打線が、鮮やかに「初モノ」を攻略した。１回裏、先頭の高橋由が右前打で出塁すると、２番谷が送って小笠原の適時二塁打を呼び起こした。２死から二岡、清水の連続適時打。巨人戦初先発の横浜三橋を序盤から圧倒した。高橋由が言う。「どんな投手か分からないので積極的に振っていった」。清水も「いつも以上にシンプルに打席に入った」。好球を逃さずたたく。激しい優勝争いで重圧がかかる試合が続くが、巨人打線は自然体が貫けている。何よりの強みといっていい。
