広島・青木高は２発に泣いた。六回まで緩急を駆使し、散発３安打０点と抜群の内容だったが、七回にガイエル、八回はラミレスに失投をスタンドへと運ばれた。９月に入ってフォームを微調整し「感覚は今年で一番よかった」。打線の援護もなく、これが１１敗目。新人ながらシーズンを通してローテーションを守ったが「よくやったとは全然思っていない」と淡々とコメントした。
