巨人脇谷が勝ち越しの２ランを放った。フルカウントから朝倉の内角直球を強振。ライナーで右翼席に運んだ。「いつもやられているコースでしたが、開き直って打てました」。苦手を克服した一打に、寡黙な男も自然にガッツポーズが出た。内角に逃げる姿勢を厳しく注意してきた原監督も「完ぺき。思い切りの良さが出た。本当に見事」と絶賛の今季１号だった。
