今季限りで引退するヤクルト古田兼任監督が今季初安打を放ち、敵地では異例の「お別れセレモニー」に感激した。試合後、ベンチ前に並んだ両軍選手に見守られながら、広島ブラウン監督から花束を受け取った後、広島市民球場のグラウンドを１周。広島ファンからも「古田コール」を送られ、サインボール３６球を投げ入れた。広島球団やファンの粋な計らいに、「本当に感謝しています。球場自体が来年でなくなるし、目に焼き付けて帰ろうと思っていた。いい思い出になりました」と充実感がにじんだ。
