ヤクルト鈴木健が引退試合で涙に暮れた。８回に代打で登場。横山のオール直球勝負の１５球目を、詰まりながら中前にはじきかえした。１１球ファウルしたうち、捕球できる邪飛を見送った三塁村田の粋なプレーもあり、鈴木健は一塁ベース上で男泣き。引退セレモニーでは声を詰まらせながら、古田兼任監督への感謝を示し「引退の報告をした時、一緒に泣いてくれました。世界一の幸せ者です」と叫んだ。最後はナインに胴上げされ、２０年間の現役生活に幕を閉じた。
