ロッテは今季最多タイの５連勝でレギュラーシーズンを締めくくり、８日に地元千葉で開幕するクライマックスシリーズ（ＣＳ）へ弾みを付けた。継投から、最後は守護神小林雅が９月１６日以来のセーブを挙げ、最終戦にして今年初めて１－０で勝利を挙げた。バレンタイン監督は試合後のセレモニーで「皆さんも１つになって戦いましょう。一緒に札幌へ行きましょう！」。ファンへ日本語で呼び掛け、ＣＳへ向けて士気を高めていた。
