スタンドが揺れ、テレビカメラまで揺れる「炎の６連打」で、日本ハムが日本シリーズへ王手をかけた。パ・リーグのクライマックスシリーズ（ＣＳ）は１５日、札幌ドームで第２ステージ第３戦を行い、日本ハムは７回２死から６連続長短打（１死球挟む）で６点を奪って、７－０でロッテに快勝。第２ステージ（５回戦制）２勝１敗とし、１６日の第４戦に勝つか引き分けで、２年連続日本シリーズ進出が決まる。
