ロッテの「ＹＫＫ」が日本ハム打線に追加点を与えなかった。先発小野が５回１死一、三塁の場面で降板すると、左の中継ぎとして今季急成長した川崎がマウンドへ。「いつでも行く準備はしていた。ああいう場面で投げられるんだから逆に楽しもうと思った」と、２回２／３を２安打無失点に抑えた。７回２死一塁からは森本に内野安打を浴びたが、みずから三塁ベースカバーに入ってアウトに仕留めるフィールディングの良さも見せた。バレンタイン監督も「あのベースカバーは本当に大きかった」と手放しで褒めた。
