中日が予選リーグ初戦で敗れたＳＫ（韓国）に雪辱し、アジアＮＯ・１の座についた。８回に岡本が同点２ランを浴びたが、９回に井端弘和内野手（３２）の中前適時打で勝ち越し、最後は守護神・岩瀬仁紀投手（３３）が３人でピシャリと締めた。セ・リーグ２位から５３年ぶりの日本一となったシーズン同様に予選２位からの優勝で、一昨年のロッテ、昨年の日本ハムに続く日本勢３連覇を成し遂げた。シリーズＭＶＰは井端が獲得した。
