怪物が派手にトンネルを抜け出した。９打席連続無安打だった日本ハム高校生ドラフト１巡目の中田翔内野手（１８）が２３日、ロッテとの練習試合で左中間スタンドへ実戦第２号本塁打を放った。グリップの位置を高く構える打撃フォームに変え「右足にタメをつくるように」という中島輝士打撃コーチ（４５）の指導にすぐさま結果を出した。この日、米国で放送事業を展開する「ブルームバーグ」が取材に訪れており、本塁打が全米で放送されることになった。
