Hokkaido Amateur Team Ties up with Marlins
The amateur Chitose Baseball Club Hokkaido announced a partnership with the Florida Marlins. This is the first time an amateur team in Japan has a working agreement with a major league organization.

Under the deal, announced on Thursday, the team will form a new team called the Hokkaido Marlins that will take part in minor-league training camp of the Florida Marlins.

Former Nippon Ham Fighters player, Testuro Hirose, will be the Hokkaido Marlins' manager. Tryouts for the new team will be held in August.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
