The Return of Masao Kida

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
The Return of Masao Kida
Kida came into the 7th inning of the Tigers-Mariners game at Comerica Park tonight and threw two pretty solid innings for Seattle in a 10-7 loss to Detroit. He gave up 2 hits, a 7th inning single to Dimitri Young and an 8th inning homer to Chris Shelton, no walks and no K's. It looked like he might have finally learned to throw his breaking ball near the strike zone, which he never could do when he pitched for Detroit back in 1999.

I couldn't believe that he was still hanging around. Good for him for toughing it out and making it back to the majors. That's some commitment and drive.

Kida was a PCL All Star closer this year with AAA Tacoma. He went 3 and 5 with 17 saves and a 3.48 ERA in 42 games w/Tacoma. [Minor League Stats]
