K. Matsui Linked with Boston Red Sox Trade
According to japanball.com [Link] K. Matusi might be traded to the Red Sox for Doug Mientkiewicz. Has anybody heard anything about this? What are the chances that this trade will go through?

Yes, there are rumors of this trade, but it's very unrealistic. According to reports the Red Sox are very close to signing Edgar Renteria to a 4 year contract to play shortstop, and the rumors said they want Matsui to play shortstop.

Mets' GM Omar Minaya has came out and said "he does not intend to trade Matsui." This should put a end to these rumors. [Link - NewsDay]

Omar has also said that no one is untouchable.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Matsui-san's ability to transition to second base? One story is that he watched Super Joe McEwing have his leg shattered by a high slide playing second and it scared the dross out of him.
