Gustavo Lopez Signs With Bulls
29 year old Dominican right-hander Gustavo Lopez has signed with the Sinon Bulls of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.

Lopez was signed as an undrafted amateur free agent by the Florida Marlins' organization in 1996. His best season in professional baseball was in 2002 with the Juniper Hammerheads of the Florida State League where he went 8-3 with a 2.33 ERA in 18 games (17 starts, 88.2 innings). He walked 24 batters and struck out 73 of them. Last year, Lopez played with Aguilas of the Mexican League (AAA) where he had a 2.70 ERA in 6 games (6.2 innings).

The Bulls removed Maximo Repolado off the 25-man roster in order to add Lopez. Repolado had a 0.00 ERA in three games (1.2 innings). He had one save.

Meanwhile, the Brother Elephants have moved Japanese native Hisanori Yokota to the 25-man roster removing the struggling Gomez Martinez. Yokota struggled in his first start as he took the loss in giving up five runs, four of the them earned, on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Martinez had a 4.29 ERA in six games, five of them starts (35.2 innings).
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
