Lions sign two foreigners

Lions sign two foreigners
Going for their fourth straight CPBL title the President 7-Eleven Lions have signed IF Luis Gonzalez and P Matt White. Gonzalez, 30, played with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan until he violated the anti-doping policy, resulting in a one-year ban. Left hander White, 32, spent two years in Japan as well with the Yokohama BayStars.

The Lions have also brought back right handed pitcher Luther Hackman. Last season he was 3-2 with a 3.15 ERA in 10 games with the club. He was also named the Taiwan Series MVP for the second straight year.

The 2010 CPBL season will start on March 20th with a game between the Leos and the Brother Elephants at Tianmu Stadium in Taipei. The league has yet to decide whether they will increase the number of games to 132 from 120.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
