Current Anaheim Angels' pitcher Ben Weber once played in Taiwan.

In the Chinese Professional League:

• President Lions: American John Burgos and Mexican Israel Lomeli.
• China Trust Whales: Japanese Hiroaki Nakayama and Naoki Sugiyama.
• Brother Elephants: American Jonathan Hurst (a pitcher who pitched in the Japanese Professional leagues, a name you might have heard of) and Japanese Sin Nakagomi.
• Sinon Bulls: Dominicans Osvaldo Martinze and Ramon Morel.

The 2003 season will start on March 1st in Taiwan. Many foreign players are being tested with the clubs during spring training. It is for sure that John Burgos, Isreal Lomeli, Sugiyama Naoki, Jonathan Hurst, and Ramon Morel will not return to Taiwan this year. The final 25-man rosters will be announced soon.

Yeah, the CPBL season has started and the final 25-man rosters have been announced. Here is an update of the foreign players on each team:

Is Geraldo Guzman the guy who played for AZ few years back? As well as Maximo Nunez in the D-Ray's AAA team?.

Do you have the list of foreign players in Taiwan from the league's 1st year till 1994? I moved to the US that year and it's impossible for me to follow Taiwan's professional team now.

Yes, Geraldo Guzman did play for the AAA team of the Arizona Diamondbacks. I'm not sure where Maximo Nunez played but apparently he played for AA San Antonio and once was in the Los Angeles Dodges organization.

Hey, if you're really a huge fan of the Taiwan leagues, would you like to write articles about it at least twice or more a week? The website I write for, BaseballGuru.com is looking for somebody to write about the Taiwanese and/or Korean Leagues. You would be given complete editorial free reign. Unfortunately, it doesn't pay anything, but at least you're putting good info out there and you won't believe who you will end up getting e-mail from sometimes. In addition, since few U.S. baseball beat writers know much about Asian baseball, they will ask you to help them occasionally.

Milton Harper was a top player in Taiwan from 1989-1993 with the President Lions and Weichuan Dragons.

You forget Pedro Prado, pitching coach for the Sinon Bulls in 2003. He was the person that taught Fu, r/h pitcher for the Sinon Bulls. And this is the reason that since 2003 all the Sinon Bulls' pitchers have changed a lot, and pitch differently.

I would like to know who the American coaches in Taiwan were over the past three years.

Former Dodger Teddy Martinez [Baseball Reference] was a hitting coach for the Sinon Bulls of the CPBL. Also, former Dodger employee Luis Trindad is the Bulls' trainer. Teddy Martinez played in 657 Major League games, batting .240 with 7 HR and 108 RBI. I'm not sure if Martinez and Trindad still work for the Sinon Bulls though? [Link - MLB.com]

Wasn't Harold Woodmon the guilty steroid player that was released?

That's quite a while ago. He was released some time around May or June.

I don't know much about Baseball in Taiwan. I only follow the standings on the Internet. But I was wondering if anyone would be able to update the list of American born (or any foreign born) players that played during the 2006 season.

Also is there a limit to foreign born players on the rosters?

There is a limit, they can only have 3 per roster.

Here are some of the foreigners that I am aware of that played in Taiwan for 2006: Eric Cyr, Luis Ugeto, Jeroime Robertson, Todd Betts, Ramon Morel, Gustavo Martinez, Chris Wright, Kenny Rayborn, Midre Cummings, Tony Fiore, Tilson Brito (sp?), Bill Pulsphier, Chuck Smith, others.

He was one of the nicest and classiest players I had met in my time in Taiwan. Sorry to be the bearer of this news.
