It's virtually impossible that the Mariners will trade Ichiro.
The Mariners won't trade Ichiro off because, one, without him, they be worse off than they are now, and, two, the players (regardless if they're top prospects or a superstar) they've got by no way could make as much of a impact as Ichiro (on and off the field). With the retirement of Edgar Martinez, the departures of Griffey, A. Rodriguez, Johnson, the decline of Moyer and Boone, Ichiro is the Mariners' best player and the team itself.
The fact that Ichiro is on the decline is also off. The fact Ichiro was chasing 1,000 hits was seeming to bother him. Furthermore, Ichiro started off slow in April last year, and we all saw how well he finished.
We shouldn't jump the gun to conclusions based on one month because we see how people who do this year in and year out always end up being proven wrong, that Ichiro is in decline (which is by no means true). With Ichiro, I can almost guarantee he will start hitting on a tear soon, with a couple 50-hit months.
- An article on Club Ichiro suggested that the Mariners would be wise to trade Ichiro for someone like Vladimir Guerrero. Would they ever do this?
The Mariners would never trade Ichiro for V. Guerrero. One, Gurrero's injury history is one Seattle can't afford at his salary. Two, Ichiro's potential is too much to prevent this trade from happening. Ichiro's popularity in Seattle is also too high to make this happen. With all this said, Ichiro will be with Seattle until he retires or returns to Japan.

They would be utterly foolish to consider trading Ichiro at this point, maybe even for a player of Guerrero's caliber. Ichiro is the franchise, the one who draws and puts all the fannies in the seats. They signed some good players in the off-season to go along with the rest of the remaining stars on the team, but the Mariners are clearly Ichiro's team.

It wouldn't be foolish to trade Ichiro for Vlad. Ichiro can hit .370, but could also hover at .300 just as easily. Vlad can hit for avgerage, too, and will usually hit .310-.340 which is amazing for a guy with 40+ home run power numbers, and who, like Ichiro, can also throw and, to a lesser extent than Ichiro, show range and D in the outfield and speed on the basepaths.
Ichiro: .300-.370, 8-15 HR, 30-40 SB, plus/plus arm, range, speed
Vlad: .310-.340, 40-50 HR, 10-20 SB plus/plus arm, good range speed
Tough call I guess, but I'd take Vlad hoping he stays healthy.

Angels wouldn't even come remotely close to considering the deal, anyway.

The point which most people here are missing, is the value of Ichiro to Seattle and Vlad to the Angels.
Both of these players are valuable to their respective teams. Ichiro's hitting, speed, and defense are all valuable, but Ichiro's popularity and marketing is even more valuable than his performance on the field.
Vladmir Guerrero's value to the LA Angels is also too valuable to the Angels. His power hitting skills, speed, and fielding are also too valuable to give up. Also, Guerrero's marketing off the field is too important to trade.
Finially, this trade will never get off the ground because of Ichiro's popularity and his baseball skills. His baseball skills and marketing value are too important to the Mariners to trade.

John Brooks is right about Ichiro's popularity. People of all ages and shapes are wearing Ichiro jerseys throughout the Pacific Northwest. The only other player to match Ichiro's popularity up here was Ken Griffey Jr.
