This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Piazza, if he departed to NPB, would be one of the biggest, if not biggest foreign name players to play in NPB. At this point, he's nothing more than a DH and would probably take quite a bit of money for a NPB team to sign.
As usual, SoftBank seems to make sense to me since they could use a power bat with Nobuhiko Matsunaka suffering from injuries and looking on the decline, and they have the money and Masayoshi Son has shown in the past he's willing to spend a lot of money on a big-name foreign player. Like, Matsunaka though, Piazza is a serious injury risk, and any team who thinks about signing him will have to take a long hard look at his health.
Piazza batted .275/.313/.414 with 8 HR's and 44 RBI in a season hampered by injuries which saw him only play in 83 games and bat 309 times. He has a career .308/.377/.545 line with 427 HR's and 1,335 RBI's.
