Olympic Qualifying, Asian Champ Boxscores

Discussion in the Baseball Asia forum
Olympic Qualifying, Asian Champ Boxscores
I'm posting this on behalf of researcher Phil Lowry:

I am looking for help in attempting to find box scores for regional Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, Asian Baseball Championships, Southeast Asia Games, World Cups, etc., both present and past, all the way back to the beginning of such tournaments. Box scores for a few of these tournaments could be found on the old IBAF website, but none can be found on the current IBAF website.

For over four decades, I have been attempting to establish a geneology of records for each nation, and for each different type of tournament, for longest game by innings and longest game by time of game. This is the reason that I am attempting to find box scores for such games. Some of what I have found is shown below.

For example, the Asian Baseball Championships are currently taking place in Taichung, Taiwan. From various sources on the Internet, one can discover the results listed below, but so far I have been unable to find any box scores.

Also, one cannot discover how the four teams (Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Pakistan) qualified for Group B. Were they picked, or did they finish in the top four of a previous qualifying tournament?

Similarly, South Africa and Australia will participate in the Final Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Taiwan March 7-14, 2008 because they won the African and Oceania Olympic Qualifying Tournaments respectively. Where can one find the box scores of games played in those tournaments? I have searched thoroughly, and found nothing on the Internet for either tournament. Is it possible that South Africa and Australia were simply picked for the March 7-14 tournament in Taiwan, simply on the basis of past performance, or were qualifying tournaments actually held for both Africa and Oceania?

Thank you very much for any help you may be able to provide,

Phil Lowry

Box scores for the Asian Baseball Championship should appear on the current IBAF site when the tourney gets underway.

Australia made it because New Zealand backed out of their match for the 2007 Oceanic Championship. There's news about it at the Oceanic Baseball Organization website.
