Chin-Feng Chen to Return to Taiwan
It's official, Chin-Feng Chen will be back in Taiwan for the 2006 season. Chen was drafted by the La New Bears. [Full Story - La New Bears - in Chinese]

Chen batted 2-22 (.091) with 0 HR and 2 RBI with the Dodgers from 2002 to 2005 [Baseball-Reference<_a>]. Chen joined the Dodgers in 1999 and left with a career .288 average, 146 HR, and 579 HRs in the minor leagues. Chen leaves the Las Vegas 51's as the all-time HR leader (87) [Minor League Baseball].

Being an all time HR leader on a minor league team is probably a dubious honour. Didn't look like he got a proper chance with the Dodgers, rather like Nakamura. And Choi keeps on getting passed over as an everyday first baseman, despite his superior production. What is with the Dodgers signing Asian players, but not using them?

Interesting. This definitely contradicts my post on the other Chen thread. Did LA release him?

With old age comes confusion. I was thinking of Choi who re-signed with LA, not Chen, who was DFA'd.

Chen was a six-year minor league free agent. Chen was designated for assignment on July 23rd to make room on the Dodgers 25-man roster for Milton Bradley, but was sent to AAA Las Vegas after he cleared waivers. [Related Thread]
